That's a lot of money to throw at that car.

What exactly would be a body off restoration on a unibody car?

Yes, could probably find a pre-owned current Taurus SHO and engage in turbo hoonery.

While I'm certain SHOs with these options will be worth good cash in the future, the future is definitely not now.

CPCPCPCPCPCPCPCPCP.

I'd maybe say as much as $5k would be OK... But seriously, $18k is way too much for a 91 Ford anything.

$18k? I love these, but no. Too much cheddar.

Sadly, CP. Awesome car but not 18K worth of awesome car.

I think I might go 10K for it, but I'd want the entire history, and I'd want the current mileage. A cosmetic restoration does not a good car make.

one like this (all original though, <10k miles) went for 15 a few years back. To the right person, who knows

Nobody body-on restorates a 91 Taurus, I don't care how many letters are behind it. Now if they installed a driveshaft...I could see 10k.

If it was a first year (1989) I'd say NP all day.

CP. I've owned a few of these (and 2nd gen) and they are a blast. $18k is about $14k more than i care to spend.

Of all my cars, its the only one i still miss...

It's a nice car but a bad price. One da it will be worth 18k but it isn't there yet

I think this is one of those "to the right person" situations. Out there, some where there is a person thinking "Man I wish I could buy a brand new beige 91 SHO." and that person might think, Hey I wan that and it's cheaper than a Sonic RS, I'm going to buy that "like new" restored SHO." but most people, myself included would think "that price is CRAZY.

Yikes! I like those cars, but not for anything close to that price. And the $38K number had better include all the operating expenses and service since new, or someone's made a pretty bad investment.

I'm hoping the 38k included the price of the car, new.

So much beige, in every form of the word.

Also, this is a thing?

"2013 National SHO Convention."

I wonder ... if the phone rang, and it was the current owner of my '97 SHO (if it still exists) offering to sell it to me for reasonable money, how much would I spend to put it back in perfect condition? Like it was when I sold it. For sure, I'd plasti-dip those chrome wheels, the worst option on the car.

Thanks chief. My point was what exactly would (would vs. is makes it a hypothetical) you take the body off of on a unibody car? And what is the body still on with a unibody car? There's no frame so how do you even designate on vs. off?

Kinja'd!!! NotUnlessRoundIsFunny > Sneaky Pete
04/10/2015 at 13:08

That would make more sense. But still...

Kinja'd!!! Steve in Manhattan > The Opponaut formerly known as MattP123

Yeah - you take the body off to restore the frame, and this car doesn't have one.

Wonder if, other than trucks, any cars are still made body on frame? Probably somewhere in the former Soviet bloc.

crack pipe price - but still a cool car. The 'stang GT of the day would get you off the line, but you could run it down on the top end. Come back here pretty little pony, I will catch you.
